Today will be a morning of adventure, we head to the bridges built 15 meters above the ground, right in the treetops with a privileged view that will allow us to enjoy a unique, relaxing and informative landscape. We will have the opportunity to observe birds, and if we are lucky, some mammals in the middle of the Amazon. This walk also shows us the rescue center, a foundation with which ECOLUCERNA collaborates very actively and daily in the effort to preserve the biological life of our ecosystem, learn about exotic species and their fascinating history on this tour.
After this adventure we return to the Lodge to continue enjoying your stay.
In the afternoon, after lunch, immerse yourself in the culture of the Peruvian Amazon during our artisanal fishing experience, a practice that few travelers enjoy but will teach you how magical it can be to explore the rivers and streams in the Bajo Madre de Dios. Let’s try our luck with handcrafted equipment in the company of our expert guides and take dinner home.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
We will start the day with an early breakfast before our journey from the lower Madre de Dios River to Tambopata river area in the upper side of the Tambopata National Reserve.
A combined boat and car trip awaits us until we reach the impressive “Chunchos clay lick zone” another section of Tambopata national reserve with unparalleled biological wealth.
After lunch, we will be able to enjoy impressive views from the observation tower, strategically located to offer panoramic views of the jungle. From its top, we will enjoy the immensity of the landscape, with the possibility of seeing more fauna and flora that enrich this ecosystem. This experience will allow us to completely immerse ourselves in the beauty and tranquility of nature. Later, you can join one of the hiking activities in the Amazon jungle and learn a little more about the conservation work and wildlife recorded in this area.
Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner
We will start the day early with a visit to Collpa Chunchos, an emblematic spot where various species of birds, such as parrots and macaws, congregate in search of mineral-rich clay. We begin our journey at 5:30am, at which time we should already be in front of the clay deposit and ready to have a picnic-style breakfast.
This natural spectacle is a unique moment to closely observe the behavior of these birds in their habitat, surrounded by the sounds and vibrant colors of the jungle. A fascinating behavior that connects directly with the unique biodiversity of the region.
After enjoying this experience, we will return to the accommodation downriver to check out. You will have time to organize your belongings before beginning the transfer back to the city of Puerto Maldonado.

A closer look
Included, and beyond
Five days is enough to stop rushing
Tambopata Extreme trades the compressed 3-day version for one where the canopy bridges, the Chunchos clay lick, and Sandoval Lake all get a full day each, instead of a stop on the way to somewhere else.
Traditional fishing, not a demonstration
You fish the way local communities along the Madre de Dios always have — with artisanal equipment, guided by people who still use it for real.
