Itinerary

Day 01: Reception – Walk in Primary & Secondary Forest

The journey begins when you arrive in Puerto Maldonado and are transferred to board an outboard boat along the Madre de Dios River to Ecolucerna Lodge (approximately 1 ½ hrs downriver).

Upon arrival you will enjoy a tasty lunch made from organic ingredients and native flavors. After lunch you will take a walk along the natural trails, where you will discover and learn about the primary and secondary forest, its components, uses, man-made transformations, and its relevance to the world.

At the end of the day we will have an interesting excursion, sailing along the Madre de Dios River at night, to learn about its ecosystem, Amazonian ravines, and the behavior of nocturnal fauna on the river banks.

Returning to the Lodge you will enjoy a restorative traditional dinner.

Meals: Lunch and dinner

Day 02: Expedition to Lake Sandoval – Night Walk

Today you will experience a day full of emotions. After a nutritious breakfast, you will prepare for a walk along the Tambopata National Reserve, which will take you to Lake Sandoval. Here you will understand why Madre de Dios is known as the biodiversity capital of Peru. You will learn about the conservation work of the Reserve and the formation of the lake, sailing in a canoe through this body of water, home of the endangered giant otter, the blue and yellow macaw, and one of the largest freshwater fish in the world, “the Paiche”. Our excursion includes a picnic in the middle of Lake Sandoval and a short break before returning to the lodge.

We arrive on average at 4 pm and will enjoy tea time at the Caiman restaurant. After a restful rest, we will have one more night of walking to explore the flora and fauna of the Amazon in its nocturnal version, equipped with flashlights and staff in charge.

We say goodbye with dinner always in the Amazonian style that will delight your palate.

Meals: Breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Day 03: Breakfast – Transfer to Puerto Maldonado

This morning you will be free to enjoy the sunrise and capture the impressive views of the Madre de Dios River.

Enjoy a last nutritious breakfast with organic ingredients from our pantry.

Your guide and the staff in charge will bid you farewell and thank you briefly for your visit, but not before presenting the achievements of the Green Angels Foundation of Ecolucerna and its achievements in conservation of the environment.

Finally, you will travel by canoe back to Puerto Maldonado. According to your flight departure time, you can go directly to the airport or request to be left in the center to get to know the city a little more.

Meals included: Breakfast.

GOOD TO KNOW

Included, and beyond

Everything Tambopata does, in one trip

Magic Tambopata doesn't pick one side of the reserve and stay there. Forest trails, Sandoval Lake, night river expeditions — this is the itinerary for travelers who don't want to choose.

Built around what moves, and when

Monkeys, macaws, and caimans don't keep a tourist schedule. Local guides time each outing — night walks, early boat rides — to when the rainforest is actually active, not when it's convenient.
